We're looking for interns! Are you looking for an opportunity to learn about politics in Hawai'i? Want to establish professional relationships in the community and gain experience that will look great on a resume? Looking to get into public service yourself one day?
We are looking for smart, energetic, and fun people who are interested in gaining experience and involvement in Hawai'i politics.
Dates of Internship: August 25 - November 4, 2014 (start date is flexible)
Hours: Flexible, at least 6 hours per week
Compensation: Unpaid, but able to arrange for course or practicum credit with your instructor.
Description of Internship: Interns will be involved in all aspects of running a local campaign, from organizing logistics and planning events, to working on social media, phone banking, developing sign material, recruiting volunteers, analyzing data, and participating in regular campaign meetings. Interns will work as part of a team with other students and professionals who are passionate about being actively engaged in the community through politics. Tasks will vary from day to day, but interns will have the opportunity to work on particular areas or projects that interest them. Interns will be led and mentored by professionals and will have the chance to network and learn from young and experienced professionals working in the fields of non-profit organizations, law, and education. By the end of the internship, you'll have gained a wealth of knowledge about politics in Hawai'i as well as have many skill sets to add to your resume, including: planning/organization, marketing, social media and technology, spreadsheets, and more.
